Image Converter for Every Format

To convert an image, pick the converter that matches your file, upload it and download the result. Each converter does one job, so you get the right settings for that format instead of a long list of options.

Which format should you pick?

Start from what the image is for. Most conversion mistakes come from choosing a format that does not fit the job.

  • JPG. Photos and anything with smooth color. Small files, no transparency.
  • PNG. Screenshots, graphics and anything that needs a transparent background. Larger than JPG for photos.
  • WebP and AVIF. Website images. Both are smaller than JPG at similar quality, and AVIF is usually the smallest.
  • HEIC. The default on recent iPhones. Convert it to JPG before sharing with people on other devices.
  • TIFF. Print work and archives, where you want nothing thrown away.
  • SVG. Logos and icons. It scales to any size without going soft.

Before you convert

  • Converting a JPG to PNG does not bring back detail the JPG already lost. The file just gets bigger.
  • Saving as JPG drops transparency. Pick PNG, WebP or AVIF if you need to keep a see-through background.
  • Convert once, from your original. Converting a converted copy loses a little more each time.
  • Photos carry hidden location and camera data. The metadata remover strips it before you share.

Image converter questions

Does converting an image reduce its quality?

It depends on the target format. PNG and TIFF keep every pixel. JPG, WebP and AVIF compress with some loss, so a small amount of detail is discarded. Convert from your original file and the difference is rarely visible.

Which format is best for a website?

WebP or AVIF for most images, with JPG as a fallback for older software. Both newer formats are smaller than JPG at similar quality, which helps page speed.

Can I convert photos from my iPhone?

Yes. The HEIC converter turns iPhone photos into JPG, and it takes several photos in one go.

What happens to my files?

Files travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection, are processed on a private server, and are deleted within 30 minutes.
